Disable Refuge Systems
In the event of a hazardous situation, it is essential to provide a safe ‘refuge’ area(s) to those that cannot escape easily but which allows the person to communicate and obtain reassurance until help arrives.
Typically wired in a loop in ‘enhanced’ fire cable, there are two main components to the system – the main control panel and the outstations. The control panel can be sized on the number of outstations required and is normally sited by the fire panel and incorporates a battery back-up facility.
To avoid hoax calls, the disabled refuge remotes are ‘in standby’ until the ‘master panel is triggered by the fire panel during an emergency. However, the remotes can be set to be permanently active if this is preferred.
